Our Story

Grandeur Cellars was established in 2004 as a part-time garage project and due to the quality of service and products it has grown to its current modern, well-equipped facility in Spartanburg, SC.

For the past 20 years, our wine cellar designers and craftsmen have completed over 500 projects for custom wine storage, ranging from small to large, from simple wine racks in homes to elaborate, detailed 5000-bottle cellars to showcase cellars in commercial establishments.

We work with individuals, homeowners, interior designers, decorators, architects, and custom home builders. The common trend in all of our custom wine cellars is that each project has a unique design and finish fitted perfectly for our customer’s wine storage needs.

Our Process

From start to finish we are with you and your project every step of the way! After initial contact with our customers here is our process.

If local to our facility we will begin by meeting in person but if distance is involved then we will schedule a time to discuss over the phone or via email your vision for your project, so we know what you are looking for and most importantly why?

After understanding the scope of your project we will provide a rough quote within 48 hours.

If our estimate is within your budget we will engage into our design process. Depending on the size of your project we may have a design fee required to begin. Once a design fee is collected we will provide a full set of plans for your cabinet project. If our clients choose to proceed forward with the project the design fee is credited back to the client. If the client decides not to have their project constructed through Grandeur Cellars the design fee will be forfeited.

Our team of carpenters and master craftsmen will bring your vision to life through time-tested woodworking and finishing techniques. Our production timelines can vary depending on vendors and materials surplus.

Once the build of your project is fully completed, we will provide fully documented photos and images of your project for approval. At this time any final balances will be due before shipping.

Once we have your approval on your project completion, we will start the crating process for your products. Refer to shipping page for more detailed information on our shipping logistics.

I contracted Cru to build a custom-designed conditioned wine cabinet for our home. They were very professional from start to finish. John Lutz, owner of Grandeur Cellars, built a wine cellar for me just to the specifications that I desired. The project was completed in October 2014, and the cellar has been performing excellent providing the storage that I wanted for my wine. The cellar is also a beautiful piece of furniture!! Recently, I had a problem with the glass in one of the cellar doors, and John sent one of his best installers (100 miles) to fix the problem. Not only did the installer fix the problem, but he enhanced the glass retention on the doors so well that I am sure that it will definitely improve the performance of the overall cellar. We worked with John Lutz at Grandeur Cellars / Cru Wine Furnishings about four years ago and are thoroughly delighted with the results. John came to our house and evaluated the space we had for a wine cellar, our desired bottle capacity, and design preferences. From that he came up with some design drawings. We reviewed them together, and came up with what we all thought was a fantastic design. One of the features we wanted was sideways display of wine bottles in front, but also easy access to the storage behind. John found just the right design and hardware to create sliding racks that run just inside two of the three doors, giving us the look and easy access we wanted. Our cellar has been running great for four years, and we could not be happier with it.

We had a number of curve balls thrown at this job including the wine room flooding right after the wine racks went in. It screwed up our schedule and prolonged the job, but the Grandeur folks were there right away and able to remove the racks and get them to an environment in our house where we could properly dry and rescue them. The team rolled with the punches and efficiently completed the job to everyone’s satisfaction. There was a little touch up required when finished and they took care of all our minor issues. They are in high demand and occasionally get spread a little thin, especially when they have to co-ordinate with insulation and the HVAC companies that are also jammed up. But as long as you can live with a few scheduling bumps along the way, you will be very pleased with the final product as we have been.
